The following is an excerpt from The Nature of Personal Reality by Jane Roberts & Seth: One of the problems arises out of the connotations given to the words "older," or "old." In your culture you believe that to be young is to be flexible, alert and aware. To be old or older is considered a disgrace, generally speaking; rigid, out of style, and passe.
If you desperately try to remain young, it is usually to hide your own beliefs about age, and to negate all of those emotions connected with it. Whenever you refuse to accept the reality of your creaturehood, you also reject aspects of your spirit. The body exists in the world of space and time. The experiences you may encounter in your sixties are as necessary as those in your twenties. Your changing image is supposed to tell you something. When you pretend alterations do not occur you block both biological and spiritual messages. In old age the organism is, in certain terms, preparing for a new birth. The combined events of spirit, mind, and body involve not only the passing of one season but preparation for the beginning of another. The situation includes all of those supports necessary to carry you through, not only with acceptance but with great aggressive drive toward new experience. To refute your reality in time, therefore, results in your being stuck in time and obsessed by it. Accepting your integrity in time allows the body to function until its natural end, in good condition, free from those distorted, invisible concepts about age. However, today I really wanted to make time to sit outside and enjoy the weather. It’s a pleasant mid 60s here today, and the sky is blue, and before I know it it’ll be dark, so here I am! Ever since the pandemic started, I’ve been having a hard time reading. I used to read almost everyday, but that habit has dwindled to almost nothing. To get me back into my reading groove, I signed up for Kindle Unlimited. This is the Amazon plan that allows you access to a selection of books for one monthly price. I was a little underwhelmed with my choices, but I did find some good books, so I guess it was worth the price (I took the half off for three months deal). If you like a thrilling mystery with some good twists, I’ve been reading a lot of books by Mark Edwards. He’s a really fun and engaging writer, and I recommend his books if you’re also trying to get back into your reading groove! However, I can’t say for sure I recommend Kindle Unlimited… I’m still deciding on that one. How are you enjoying this beautiful Sunday? Are you feeling okay after last week's holiday stress? If you could use a deep breath and a moment of calm, check out my series of short daily meditations! There’s definitely one in there that will calm your mind and soothe your spirits. And I hope this next week is truly amazing and satisfying for you! "Let that shit go" is a phrase I was repeating in my mind tonight at the gym. It came up as I was trying to release stress from this holiday week. Truth be told, I did not go to Thanksgiving dinner with my family. One of my family members was being verbally abusive with me, and I had to say no to being around that. It was an unfortunate situation all around, and it led to a much bigger situation with more people that I wish would just go away... but alas, family conflict rarely resolves in the timeframe we want it to. There's not much about this I can control, other than my own feelings. And I don't want to feel this anxiety and stress anymore. So as I sat in the spa, breathing deep, trying to get the knot in my stomach to release, a phrase printed on the cover of an old journal kept repeating in my mind. Let that shit go. This, of course, is one of those things that's easier said than done. Knowing I want to let it go isn't quiet the same as actually letting it go. But just acknowledging I want this, rather than the repeating cycle of anxious thoughts, helped me to feel a little lighter. If you've had a stressful week (or month, or year, or anything) as well, then I hope this meditation helps. This is a special bonus Saturday meditation - I will return to posting meditations Mon-Fri next week. I'm wishing you all peace and relief from what bothers you. And so with each breath, we are reborn. During this meditation, you will have a chance to do some deep breathing and to reflect on this phrase (as well as the magic and beauty of a new moment).
